Friday, September 25: Nikoletta Nousiopoulos

Nikoletta Nousiopoulos

  Nikoletta Nousiopoulos is a poet, writer, and educator residing in Southeastern Connecticut with her husband, fiction writer Daniel Giovinazzo, and their three young children. She works as an academic advisor and instructor in the Thames college transition program at Mitchell College, and also teaches college composition at York Correctional Institution, Connecticut's only prison for women. Deeply involved in the campus creative community, she serves on the literary board for the Mitchell Literary Reviewand acts as the faculty advisor to The Thames Review, both of which are college journals dedicated to publishing student work. 

Nousiopoulos was awarded a 2026 Poet & Author Fellowship for the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. She is the author of the debut collection all the dead goats (Little Red Tree Publishing), and her second poetry collection, Penelope’s Dream Almanac, is set for publication in the Fall of 2026 from the same press. Her poetry has appeared in numerous print and digital journals, including The Fairy Tale Review, Tammy, ethel, Whiskey Island, American Religion, antiphony, tiny spoon, and Peach Mag. 

Her work has received distinct recognition, including being longlisted by Dorothea Lasky for the 2019 Peach Mag Gold Prize in Poetryfor her poem "Postpartum Violets," and receiving an Honorable Mention nomination for the 2023 Red Noise Collective Poetry Prize for "Penelope’s moment of slip___page when thinking about abortion."
